Armogear are not one of the better known brands on the market, but this gun set is undoubtedly one of the top options available right now. As with most other laser tag gun sets, they have to pass pretty strict regulations to officially release products. Their lasers emit 0.9mW beams, which are safe to use without worrying about your kids going blind.

This 4 piece set is a good example of what a laser tag set should be – it has tons of cool features and is easily available on Amazon. Check our these ways to cheat at laser tag!

Main Features

As mentioned, the main Armogear set comes with four guns, which should be enough for the whole family. They don’t make it easy to purchase 2 or even a single gun, which you can do occasionally via their website; though most of the time, they’re out of stock.

Let’s look at the specific features that the Armogear Laser Tag Set has that make it one of the better options available if you’re looking for a solid laser tag gun set.

Gun Settings

The Guns themselves have a ton of different features on them, though once you get used to them they’re pretty easy to manoeuvre. Here’s a manual of the difference buttons that you’ll have on the Armogear laser tag guns.

As you can see, there’s a wide variety of different buttons and features that this gun set has. It might look a little overwhelming at first, but you’ll soon get used to them.

4 Weapon Modes

One thing that old kids will love about the Armogear Laser Tag Set is the fact that you can use different guns. If you stick with the pistol, then you’ll get more shots before reload, but if you go for the rocket launcher, you’ll have to be super accurate as you only get one shot before reload – but it’ll takes three lives off of your opponent.

Of course, you don’t have to use these settings – and I’d advise you don’t with younger kids as it can get a bit confusing. Though for older kids, this added setting is a super cool addition that your regular laser blaster won’t have.

Armogear Laser Tag Vests

One thing that I like about Armogear is that they use vests. In more recent years, laser tag sets have gone against this idea, instead using the gun as a target itself.

This minimizes the amount of products that you need and reduces the cost of the set itself. Though I do prefer the old fashioned way of having to shoot your opponents vest. The sets that use vests also tend to be more accurate, as sets that don’t use vests will often not have the same accuracy – it’s hard to maintain the accuracy when the target is the gun!

Now, you don’t only have the option of using the vests with this laser tag set – you can also use the guns as targets too. So overall, you do get the best of both worlds here which is pretty cool. It’s also worth mentioning that the connection between the vests and the guns is wireless, which is another cool feature about this set.

Invisibility Mode

Another feature that the Armogear set has which makes me think that it’s more suitable for older kids is the invisibility feature.

If you’re playing with your laser tag set inside or at dusk/nighttime, then one of the most annoying things can be giving your location away! With all the lights flashing, then your opponent can easily tell where you are – which can get pretty frustrating.

With invisibility mode, you can turn off all of the lights on your laser gun and vest. This helps you to conceal your location, without your opponents finding out where you are. This adds another super fun element of the game, especially for the kids.

However, you obviously do still have to be wary about the sound effect of the guns, as they can be pretty loud and will give your position away to the other team.

4 Different Teams – Unlimited Players

As with other 4 gun sets, you get the option for 4 different teams – red, blue, green and orange.

What I particularly like about the Armogear set though, is that you get the option to mix and match them however you’d like. This can be 2 v 2, 1 v 3 or a free-for-all. You could also opt to get 2 or 3 sets and play laser tag with a larger amount of people, as the sets are can all be integrated with each other. This means that you can have 2 v 2 v 2 v 2, or even a free-for-all with as many people as you’d like.

This makes it an excellent idea for bug family parties, when you’re likely to have a lot of kids coming over to play and you don’t want anyone to get left out.

Shooting Range of 150ft

Other laser tag gun sets are less than 100ft shooting range – they are intended to be used indoors or in a small garden. But with the Armogear set, you get a shooting range of around 150ft.

In fact, this set actually works better at longer distances – provided you have it in the correct shooting mode. A 150 foot range is impressive by anyones standards, and is great for larger gardens or even at the park.

Voice Direction

I don’t think that voice direction is a necessity in a laser tag set, but it’s certainly a cool add on to have.

The voice guide helps to show you what to do whilst you’re playing – for example, when you turn your receiver off, the voice direction will clarify this for you. A neat addition to a laser tag gun set.

One feature that the Armogear laser guns have that many other sets don’t is the LED flashlights. Though they aren’t particularly necessary, they certainly add an extra bit of fun to using the guns – especially at nighttime.

They’re extremely easy to use and if you combine them with invisibility mode, then you can have some awesome fun.

Pros and Cons

As with any set of laser tag guns, there are many different benefits and drawbacks of going with what they have to offer. The good thing about Armogear is that they offer a full money back guarantee with their laser tag products, which means that it ends up being pretty easy for you to return them if they’re not up to scratch.

  • High quality – Of the laser tag sets on the market, this is one of the highest quality ones available.
  •  Multiple Features – If you have older kids (7+), then you’ll want an abundance of features to keep them happy. This laser tag set has a ton of features to keep the kids – and adults – happy.
  • Unlimited amount of players – You can easily interchange this set with other Armogear sets to create a mass laser tag game. If you have relatives, it’d be a great idea to gift them this set so you can all play together at family occasions.

  •  Price – If you’re after a cheap laser tag set, then this isn’t the right option for you. It’ll set you back a little bit more than most other sets, but it is of a higher overall quality.
  • Batteries – Personally, I’d prefer a lser tag set that you can charge up through the mains. This set uses AAA batteries, which gets kind of annoying having to replace them all the time. You best bet would be to get a rechargeable battery set from Amazon to go with this laser tag set.
  • Not great at close range – If you’re within a foot or two from each other, then the accuracy feature sort of matters less. Even if you’re a bit off target, you’ll still get the shot in. They work a lot better at long ranges.

The Armogear Laser Tag Set is actually much better than Armogear’s other laser tag sets, because you can actually move around with it. Armogear’s previous set is too stiff to move your arms and legs freely limiting the range of motion, but this Armogear Laser Tag Set has a more flexible design allowing for freedom in movement.

A very slight downside is that the guns have no triggers which makes reloading hard, but they’re made up by having an actual structure so you don’t just look like a droopy arm when bending a leg or raising your arm. Armogear also does not supply targets instead giving us permission to use any flat surfaces as targets such as tables or walls; which I understand that Armogear really wants us to play it outdoors on real life battlefield

Overall, this is one of the better laser tag sets on the market currently. It’s a tad expensive and has a ton of features, so it’s definitely best suited to older kids and adults. If you have the extra cash available, then this would be a choice for any family.
